Our system for Assessment is based on end of year criteria (age-related expectations) and we assess children throughout the year on milestones stepping up to this end of year criteria, as measures of being ‘on-track’ to meet the End of Year Expectation. We use the assessments made during the year to modify teaching and adapt plans to address areas which perhaps have not been learned as well as hoped. OFSTED (June 2017) reported that "Teachers use your carefully considered assessment system well ... this enables extra help to be provided quickly so that individual pupils catch up and achieve well".
