The children have continued learning about farms and the food they provide. We planted some seed potatoes and will water them regularly and harvest these in July. All the children were involved with filling planter bags with compost and our special helpers of the day planted 3 seed potatoes in each bag. Other seeds were planted too such as carrots and chard and different flower seeds too. Children are also creating their own farms in their play.
We have been tasting different foods and identifying which animals have been involved in their production such as cows for dairy products. We also thought about how we liked our eggs cooked and made a pictogram showing our preferences for boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and omelettes, with boiled eggs proving the most popular.
