We have talked to the children this week about the election and conducted our own yesterday. On Monday I lead collective worship where we talked about the things children feel is wrong with the world. From this list, children in Class 4 were challenged to put themselves forward, as a pretend MP for our school. Five children, Eliza, Hannah, Lydia, Felicity and Finley, took up this challenge and produced their own manifesto. They then shared their ideas with the school first and yesterday children from every class completed a voting slip for one of them. Their ideas were really well considered, they could each be politicians for the future and all received votes of confidence from the school. Well done to Eliza for winning overall and being ‘elected’!
I hope this has given them a sense of how an election works and perhaps they were interested in how you voted yesterday?
