Budding artists

Children in Squirrels Class enjoyed a visit yesterday from Southampton Art Gallery. One of their staff came out and talked to the children about artwork – Monet and Lowry in particular. The children then had a go producing their own impressionistic piece using oil pastels and then mono-printing ink outlines over the top. Really messy and lots of fun. The children were very proud of their artwork and the visitor commented in our visitor book that:
“The children in Year 1 & 2 were resilient, thoughtful and creative, working hard to learn new technique and very willing to experiment and try new things”
Great to see the ‘Open Our Minds’ aspect of our school vision so evident in the children!
