May 2023

The King's coronation has been a focus of the class throughout the month of May.  Many of the children attended their own local celebrations and the school held its own celebration on the front grass where the hildren could join with friends, buddies and siblings to eat cake and raise a toast to King Charles III.  The children also took part in helping out activities around the school, such as dead heading flowers, tidying, repairing and cleaning in the spirit of the coronation helping the community contributions.

The children also followed a recipe for making biscuits for the coronation, where they helped to measure and mix ingredients and then decorated a little haphazardly with red white and blue.

The children were really keen to act out the coronation so everyone worked together to make a carriage, throne, orb and sceptres, and made a crown each too.  We then took it in turns to re-enact the coronation on different days.
