Thursday 2nd July

Maths

Start the lesson by doing your second times tables test of the week.

Year 3

Can I  make 3-D shapes?

Unfortunately there is no video today. If you want to rewatch yesterday's video about 3-D shape you can. For question 1 and 3 you need to make shapes using cubes. I am hoping you can be creative and perhaps use OXO cubes, sugar cubes or if you have a younger brother or sister, they may have a set of blocks you could use. If not, leave this question out.

You also need to make shapes using straws and marshmallows on question 4. If you don't have these, you could use spaghetti and play dough/ plasticine instead.

English

Can I use speech punctuation ?

Re-read The Little Story That Didn’t Want to Be Told.

The Cat is described as nice, clever and fat. Suggest three new words that mean the same things as these.

Find the speech bubbles on page 11 of the story.

Read them aloud in a characterful way so that your voice shows how each speaker is feeling.

Now find the three examples of direct speech to be found in the text.

Check on Direct Speech in The Little Story to check you got each one.

Carefully work through the PowerPoint: Punctuating Direct Speech up to slide 8

Look at the final slide of the PowerPoint.

Carefully read the instructions in the green box on the right hand side of the slide.

  • Read your conversation out, changing your voice with each new speaker so that you can tell who is who and how they are feeling.

Spelling

Spend some time practising your spelling sentences ready for your test tomorrow.

R.E.

For the next few weeks we will be looking at people with faith and how their faith has inspired them to overcome challenges.

Today we are looking at a man called Fauja Singh who is a Sikh. We have not looked at Sikhism before so you will be learning a bit about a new religion.

Watch the powerpoint, which includes a video, and answer the questions on the word document below.

Send your work in to the Class 3 email and address it to Mrs Lambert.
