English

On Friday, I gave you your Mighty Writing to talk about and plan over the weekend. If you missed it on Friday, here it is again:

Last Wednesday, I read to you the first part of Anthony Browne's Hansel and Gretel. Now I am going to read the next two pages to you:

Today you are going to describe the gingerbread house. Look at the picture and imagine you are standing in front of the house. Think about what you can see, smell and taste. What are all the different parts of the house made of? Which part would you like to taste?
Remember you need your tricky word mat and your phonics sound mat in front of you while you are writing!

Year 1:

First, you are going to think of some adjectives to describe the house. Then, I would like you to write some of these adjectives in sentences. I would like you to write three sentences. Watch the video below to see me thinking of some adjectives and then writing my first sentence:

Gingerbread House Description Year 1

You can use the template below or just write on a piece of paper. You could even draw your own gingerbread house!

Year 2:

You are going to write some sentences to describe the gingerbread house. I would like you to use lots of adjectives and maybe a simile to describe the house in lots of detail. Watch the video below to see me writing my first few sentences:

Gingerbread House Description Year 2

You can print the template below to write on or write on your own piece of paper.

Live Assembly with Mrs Woolley

Remember to join us for our live assembly with Mr Woolley at 10am. You should have received a link for this via Parent Mail.

Maths

This week in our Maths we will be moving on to thinking about division. Year 2 you might remember this from last year. Year 1 this will be something new for you. Today we will be thinking about sharing objects into equal groups. Watch my video to find out more.

Maths input 22.1.21

As I said in my video I would like you to find 20 objects from home and share them out in as many different ways as you can. Maybe find plates or bowls to share the objects into. Take photographs and send them to our class email.

Then choose a different amount of objects to share out.

Phonics

Year 1:

Click on the video below for your phonics lesson. Today we are going to revise the sound 'ou' as in 'found'.

Revise 'ou' as in 'found'

Year 2:

Today we are going to revise some of the Phase 5 sounds you learnt when you were in Year 1. Start by clicking on the Power Point below. You need to read each sound carefully and then pop the balloon. Are there any you are unsure of? How fast can you pop all the balloons?

You have a choice of activities today. Or you could have a go at both!

1. Click on the document below. There are some pictures and some captions. You need to read each caption and match it with the picture. You could print these and cut them up to match them.

2. For this game you need to print the document below and you also need a dice and two counters.

P.E

This afternoon I would like you to get active. Did you do PE with Joe this morning? If not, you could do it now. Or, click on the link below to watch and join in with one of Sports Dave's videos:
In school, we will be doing some Cosmic Kids Yoga:
Hampshire School Games have created some daily challenges to help us think of fun ways to stay active. They are very easy to set up and quick and fun to do. We will be trying this one in school today. You can join in at home too:
Or you could do your own thing! You might prefer to go for a long walk or bike ride. Have fun!

Cooking with Miss Newton on Friday

Hello Everyone,

This week we will be doing Rainbow Spaghetti for our cooking. I feel it will be more like a science lesson than cooking but i thought it would be fun to see what happens.

You will need:

200g Spaghetti (or more if you would like t cook it for your family)

Mixture of food colouring.

It is quite simple this week but I hope we have magical results! I can imagine Hansel and Gretel enjoying this spaghetti in the gingerbread house.

From Miss Newton
