Peer Mentors Support Other Children At Playtimes

Our peer mentors ‘launched’ their support service this week. A team of children from Class 4 have been specially trained over the last term by Mrs Soley to be key supports at playtimes – Darcy, Talea, Bluebell, Hayden Wallis-Guy and Hayden Miller. They are children who are all empathetic and understanding for others to approach if they are having a worry at playtime – to solve a problem such as a play dispute when they need some help. They also introduced a ‘worry box’ where children can place a note to request some help. Their activities are overseen by Mrs Soley and part of their role is to pass on anything more serious to her. Some of you might remember from the parent questionnaires last summer that this was an area a parent rightly observed needed a bit of development so we are pleased our fabulous children have been trained to now help each other in this way.
