Mighty Writing
A few weeks ago you looked at the painting Hunters in the Snow by Pieter Bruegel and you had a go at sketching the painting yourselves.
- What did you think of the painting?
- What mood was the artist trying to create?
The painting shows three hunters returning from their hunt for food and you were asked to look for clues to find out if they were successful or not.
Your Mighty Writing for Monday 6th July is to write your own short story to go with this painting. Imagine the hunters were unsuccessful in their search for food.
- How might they be feeling on their walk back into the village?
- How will the other villagers react to the news?
- What will this mean for the village?
- Will they be ok?
Have a look at my example story below for some ideas.
Year 1 – try to think of as many different and exciting adjectives as you can to describe the feelings of the characters and write these on your planning sheet.
Year 2 – try to think of as many different and exciting adjectives as you can to describe the feelings of the characters and write these on your planning sheet. Also think of some exciting verbs and adverbs you could use in your story.
For example, instead of saying: “The hunters walked back into the village” you could write “The hunters trudged slowly back into the village with slumped shoulders” to tell the reader exactly how the hunters are feeling.
