Week 1 - Develop Your 'Giving' Superpower
The children were given their first Lent challenge card on Monday. Our focus this week is to try to be more giving – not just gifts or donations (though of course these are ‘giving’) but to try to give something of yourself more – to give time to someone, give more thought, give affection and make someone feel good or give support or care.
If children manage to do something as a deliberate act to be more giving – please encourage them to note it down (or you could) on the blue part of the card and return that bit to school. They won’t get a reward – the idea is to develop personal growth but we will discuss it.
Class 4 have a slightly different version – being older they are more in control of making their own independent record so don’t need to return anything.
It has been a really busy week in school – finally using the new challenge trail, cricket, hot-chocolate, Climbing Everest (sort of) and amazing funny costumes! The children looked fabulous in their World Book Day costumes and bedtime-story-wear yesterday which created lots of fun and discussions. Some of our year 6 children even coordinated their outfits with an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme (photo right) – don’t they look amazing! They should all have received their vouchers which can be exchanged for a choice of books from retailers or used within the Scholastic catalogues also sent out yesterday (thanks to Mrs Wallis-Guy for these!).
