Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
The thing that has dominated this week has been the many colds, sore throats and coughs which have kept children off school. Of course this is always the case at this time of year. I thought it would be worth reminding parents that you need to notify us of every absence (by phone -answerphone is fine, email or message) even if they were ill the day before so we know where children are. If we do not have a message we never assume a child is ill, we need to be sure, so you can expect a check with a phone-call home. The only exception might be if a child has vomited/ diarrhoea (or something more serious) and you’ve told us they will need to be off for 48 hours (as per NHS guidance).
We are starting to move towards the season for our festive productions and the growing signs of preparation are becoming obvious. I listened to some lovely singing from Class 2 earlier in the week as they are starting to learn songs and I keep finding huddles of Class 3 and 4 children rehearsing scenes from scripts, even at play time. It’s great to see them enthusiastic about wanting to perform. Our Class 1 children haven’t started yet – for them it’s about preparing at a pace that suits them without over-doing it.
At this time of year charitable work always takes centre stage with Remembrance and Children in Need (see below) falling together. In our collective worships we have started to talk about remembrance and what this means, Revd Jane talked about this on Tuesday and shared some interesting medals from her family. Armistice Day falls on Monday so we will be holding a special assembly later in the morning to mark this important moment and take in the 11am silence. If you would like to join us for this in school you would be very welcome, just pop into school for a 10.45am start.
