  • Fond Farewells To Mrs Lowe, Mrs Salentino and Mrs Nettle

    Fri 27 Sep 2019

We had a lovely tea party for our leaving staff yesterday – it was lovely to have so many children, parents, governors, ex staff and current staff there to celebrate their time at our school. It was of course tinged with sadness but a lovely occasion.

I would like to thank all of you – those who came along, for the amazing cakes which you produced and for the generous donations which were made. Carla Salentino, Jane Lowe and Sally Nettle each received a rose bush, a spa day and some M&S vouchers as tokens of all of our love and thanks. I know all of them were very touched by everyone’s generosity and kind words.

It is impossible to sum up what they have all given to our school community and to the children, currently and in the past, who have grown up with their encouragement, care and nurture. Suffice to say they will be missed by all of us!

  • Class 3 Had A Great Trip To Butser Hill Ancient Farm

    Fri 20 Sep 2019

Class 3 had a great trip this week to Butser Hill Ancient Farm to help them learn about the Stone Age. We use trips throughout the year to help children experience and understand learning more deeply – often at the ends of topics so children can apply everything they had learned. This trip was at the beginning to give them a sense of what the Stone Age might have been like- it’s a hard period of time to imagine as it’s so distant. This gives them experiences to build subsequent learning on.

  • Class 1 Settle In Brilliantly With The Help Of Their Buddies!

    Fri 13 Sep 2019

Welcome Class 1 parents to our school family! Your children have made a great start to school and are already remarkably settled and calm! Well done to our older buddies who have supported them so well.

For the benefit of our new families but a good reminder to everyone, our regular Friday newsletter is our key way of communicating to parents. If you take the time to scan over it, you will quickly work out if any events are happening next week for your children – I tend to highlight more important things in shaded blue boxes and events happening next week you don’t want to miss on the ‘post-it note’. Put simply, if you read the newsletter you can’t miss anything! I also add a list of general letters sent during the week so you can work out if you have missed one. If, for whatever reason you miss a letter or newsletter, ask in the office for a copy.

  • Welcome Back, Buddies Help Year R

    Thu 05 Sep 2019

Welcome back to the start of a new school year! The children have returned having grown a little, sporting new hair cuts and everyone looks very smart. They have also been keen to share news with friends and teachers of things they have done, places they have been and the fun they have had. This is always the lovely thing about starting a new school year!

Our new year R children start on Monday so we look forward to helping the children settle in and our new families to get to know our Upham family! Year 6 Buddies will start their duties next week – it would be really helpful if at all possible if they were here nice and early on Monday, ready to receive their buddy.
