  • Science Day Was A Great Success!

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

The children had great fun on Monday on Science Day and everyone spent time working Scientifically. They were grouped with children from every class so they had to work in mixed ages rotating around all four classes. This always brings out the best in our children and I observed older children supporting and helping younger ones, buddies confidently leading and Class 3 and 4 children letting younger children ‘go first’ or encouraging them to have a go. Throughout the day, children explored scientific processes – they were conducting tests around gingerbread men – how to help them float, help them parachute or help them with a problem. They had to predict, test, compare, conclude and construct a fair test which they did to successfully answer their question!

  • World Book Day And Science Day At Upham

    Fri 06 Mar 2020

What a lovely day we had yesterday for World Book Day – despite the endless rain. The children really enjoyed dressing up and this generated lots of great discussion about books and characters. Some of their costumes were amazingly creative and inventive! These ‘unusual’ days are important parts of the school year and part of our school curriculum to promote learning in all its forms. We have another of these coming next week on Monday – Science Day (it’s British Science Week next week too). The children will be grouped in mixed class groups and rotate around teachers for some fun, exciting science and technology activities.
