  • Goodbye and Good Luck to our Year 6 leavers of 2023

    Fri 21 Jul 2023

The last week of term is always about our leaving year 6s. They started the week relatively normally but as the week passed the realisation they are leaving seems to have progressed and emotions have shifted. Yesterday, they shared a lovely mix of memories in their Leaver’s Service in celebration of their time at Upham School. Today after school their final act will be ringing the bell at the front of the school. This most symbolic act marks their leaving but this isn’t a sad moment; the children have taken everything they need from us and are ready to move on in the world and start the next exciting chapter of their lives. All of our love goes with them – good luck in all you do to Connor, Lewis, Louie, Nic, Freddie, George, Antoine, Sam, Ella, Caitlin, Steph, Sienna, Alice & Rosie.

  • Class 4 Residential to Calshot Activity Centre

    Fri 14 Jul 2023

It has been a quiet week in school this week where Class 4 have been at their residential visit to Calshot Activity Centre. They have enjoyed a range of activities; dry ski-slope skiing and ringos (a large inflatable to slide down the slope on), kayaking, indoor rock climbing, archery and giant swing. However, the main challenge of course is being away from home and being more independent. They have had a really enjoyable visit and will be exhausted when they get home! My thanks to Mrs Miller and Miss Olver for taking the children with me – they do not get paid any more for this and without this commitment, these sorts of opportunities for the children couldn’t happen.

  • Country Dancing

    Fri 07 Jul 2023

It was lovely to see boys and girls joining in the tradition of country dancing at the weekend. In fact it started on Friday afternoon when Mrs Mason and Mrs Miller took children from Years 1 to 6 to an event called a Ceilidh (pronounced Kayley). They joined in with the other schools there and danced to the live band. Then on Saturday they performed dances at the Upham Church Fete. They did really well and completed the maypole weaves brilliantly to finish. It was lovely to see so many of you there and I bumped into lots of our ex-pupils, some now in their late teens, who all nostalgically described ‘I remember doing that’! Thanks to Mrs Mason and Mrs Miller for running the club which prepared everyone over the last few weeks.
