Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We had Mrs Faulkner in last week with Class 1 and this week we had Mr Faulkner, who is a police officer, visiting the class. He shared a little about what modern policing looks like – including an exciting speedboat clip to show the breadth of police operation. Of course trying on pieces of uniform was the highlight and important too – children are often frightened of police officers and this sort of interaction helps build more positive awareness. Thanks to Mr Faulkner for giving up his time and coming in!
The severe frosts we have had this week have been fascinating for the children as they have enjoyed finding the strange places ice forms and the odd shapes it makes at playtimes. Class 1 in particular have enjoyed these ‘discoveries’ and have been particularly excited by the feel of frost and the crunching
sounds underfoot. They also particularly enjoyed making mixtures and leaving them overnight to see how they freeze – see if they can tell you about it!
One of our vision aims is to ‘open your mind’, meaning to try new things and experiences. This has been true of Maggie, our school dog, as this week I have introduced her to new situations and ways to meet those children who would like to. During a wet play on Tuesday I took her into the entrance of each class where children could say hello and give her a stroke. She coped perfectly and enjoyed the attention! Today, she joined assembly for the first time and helped to give out our Maggie - Vision and Value certificate. She remained calm and focussed and everyone even sang happy birthday to her, albeit in a whisper, as she is 2 today!
Happy New Year to everyone! It was lovely to see the children back this week. Everyone has been full of stories about the things they have done, fun they had and of course news about presents they received. It’s one of the nice things about returning to school at this time of year; the opportunity to share news and reconnect with their friends.
