  • Singing in Christmas

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

It is starting to feel a little Christmassy in school – productions are underway and singing can be heard somewhere in the school across most of the day. I will be sending out further information about the productions next week so look out for that communication. Of course alongside some time preparing and practicing music and drama, the children are following the rest of the curriculum – just as OFSTED identified on the report; ‘The curriculum is broad and ambitious for all pupils’. Class 3 have been particularly busy making insulated hats in DT as part of their ‘River deep, Mountain high’ topic. They have learned to be so independent in threading needles and sewing and showed some great sustained concentration!

  • National anti-bullying week

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

It has been national anti-bullying week this week and this is always a good opportunity to talk to the children about this aspect. We know the children quickly flag concerns to us which means we can act quickly. However, bullying happens across all walks of life and to adults so we explored what this might look like for others and the damage it causes. The slogan this year is to ‘reach out’ – to get help, share worries with others but also to not stand by and let it happen but tell bullies it’s not OK. Wearing odd socks is a way of showing solidarity for this – to celebrate our uniqueness, you may have heard of ‘odd-sock day’! I suggested to the children to wear the oddest socks possible for today so if they made some strange clothing choices today, now you know why!

  • Class 4 visit Southampton places of worship

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Class 4 had a really interesting trip on Thursday and visited some places of worship in Southampton as part of their RE learning. Firstly they visited St Edmund’s Catholic church where Father JohnPromise showed them around. They were amazed by his astonishing singing ability and the many details he pointed out (see photo above). They then walked the short distance to the Singh Sabha Gurdwara where Kamaljit Karir showed them around. They have been learning about Sikhism so knew they would have to remove their shoes and behave in an appropriately respectful manner, which of course they did perfectly.

  • School Council 2022/23:

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

We completed the voting processes for our new school council for this academic year so I am delighted to confirm our new members.

    Y6 Antoine & George M

    Y5 Rufus & Hannah

    Y4 Eva & Joseph B

    Y3 Charlie & Ethan

    Y2 Lily B & Riley

    Y1 Bella & Ozzie

The voting system was completed anonymously where children voted for ideas which had been put forward rather than the individual, ensuring our councillors are all able to do the role. We will start our first meeting next week! We will also include some of Class 1 to join the council in due course.
