  • Class 4 Raise Money For MacMillan Cancer Support

    Fri 25 Oct 2019

Class 4 children held a coffee morning to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. You may have seen TV adverts about this annual event and Class 4 children wanted to support this. They prepared some amazing chocolate brownies, cakes and cookies the day before and so many families generously donated cakes too. Thanks to parents, grandparents, families and ex-children for coming, donating so generously and supporting the event, they raised £175!

  • Fabulous Fungi Found In Upham Playground!

    Fri 18 Oct 2019

The wet weather has had an interesting effect this week, it has promoted growth of lots of mushrooms. In such a rural location, the changing ecology across the year is so visible to the children here and something we actively promote. In assembly, I talked to the children about being safe – avoiding touching potentially poisonous fungi but admiring their beauty and respecting and protecting this interesting life form. Yesterday at playtime, children were amazed at a huge growth of large parasol mushrooms in our den building area!

  • Preparing For School Council Elections

    Fri 11 Oct 2019

Our school council is an important way in which we use child-voice to help shape decisions about aspects of the school – last year they helped to design the challenge trail which was built, planned charity events and evaluated our school vision. We will be voting for our new school council next week. Children in each class can put themselves forward and all they need to do is be able to say to the rest of the class why they think they would be a good councillor. Following this, a private ballot will take place in each class. If your child is enthusiastic about this you might like to help them plan and rehearse what they want to say. Our Class 1 children will also vote but this will be a more simple process for them and Mrs Mason will steer them through it!

  • Welcome To Our New Staff Members

    Fri 04 Oct 2019

We welcomed two new members of staff this week. Mrs Dawson is working full time with Class 1 and has already got to know the children. Mrs Bastian has also started in the office and has already helped many of you. It will take a while before they know all of the children and match children with parents so please bear with them!
