  • A very busy week...

    Fri 30 Jun 2023

It’s been a very busy week – which started with sports day on Tuesday. On Wednesday Class 3 visited Lepe beach for a very enjoyable geographical field trip and Year 6 visited Portsmouth cathedral to attend the Diocese of Portsmouth Leavers service. Today, Class 1 caught the bus to Bishops Waltham library and with the Upham Fair tomorrow, there is a lot going on!

  • Hampshire School Games

    Fri 23 Jun 2023

On Thursday, Miss Olver, together with Mrs Lovell, took children from Years 4, 5 and 6 to the Hampshire School Games in Winchester. This event is the pinnacle of school sport and we were invited to join by the school games coordinator in a participation event due to the extremely high commitment we have as a school to giving all our children so many opportunities to experience competitive sport. The children who were selected thoroughly enjoyed the event and the different activities as well as the chance to be involved in the opening ceremony with schools from across the county. Our thanks to parents for transporting the children.

  • Summer has arrived

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

Wow, what a hot week! The heat has been lovely but it does make everyone feel a little more tired and less energetic than usual. The children have still been very active but been encouraged to drink more, take off jumpers (if they hadn’t) and use the calm, more still time in class to cool down. Wearing hats helps protect them and sun cream is important too – but please apply before the children come to school as we cannot apply it for them.

  • 'Coronation Corner' is complete

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

Over half term the refurbishment of the ‘quiet area’ between Class 2, Class 1 and the playground into the new ‘Coronation Corner’ was completed. This involved removing the slabs and sleepers which the tree roots had disturbed and installing better drainage, a new fence and soft surfacing. This has opened up the area and has already allowed more play this week. I’ve noticed Class 3 dancing and jumping on the slightly springy surface, running and chase games as well as comfortable places to sit and chat under the tree. The space will really come into its own when it’s really wet and the field can’t be used. Thanks to FUS for funding and also to the fundraising from a group of parents who completed a sponsored walk a while ago which also contributed.
