  • Have an Eggcellent Easter!

    Fri 31 Mar 2023

We had a lovely Easter service in church this morning where Year 6 shared some thoughts about the meaning of events from Holy week; the week leading up to Jesus’ death and then rebirth. Children also shared prayers and here is Class 3’s which shows some reflective thought about what Easter means to them (below). Unfortunately, the weather meant we had to cancel the Easter egg hunt and egg and spoon races but the children were still able to receive their egg gifts from FUS who presented them in assembly in dramatic fashion – ask your child about this! My thanks to all those FUS parents who helped support this and made it happen. The winner of the giant egg competition was also announced as well as prize winners for the ‘decorate a card’ competition. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter and manages a relaxing break in between the inevitable mountain of chocolate! We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 17th April.

  • Recent visitors

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

We try to involve visiting speakers as much as we can across the curriculum as they help to make learning real for the children. This also subtly raises aspirations to different roles, jobs and volunteering opportunities that might be open to them later in life. Over the last few weeks we have had some University students doing some gymnastics input with Class 4. Suzy Green from the Sea Cadets also visited Class 4 regarding electromagnets and motors as part of her work promoting careers in marine engineering. Thanks also to Mr and Mrs Baker who separately came into Class 1 recently to share their experiences of living in Australia and South Africa.

  • Red Nose Day

    Fri 17 Mar 2023

It was great today to see the children dressed so differently for Red Nose day. Many were just really comfortable in their own clothes – others relishing the particular comfort of certain clothes, some in full costumes others in things to entertain. The aim was to make us smile which I think was achieved. In assembly today we also talked about what the Comic Relief charity does; its work in the UK and Africa. We raised over £120! I also shared with the children a challenge – an exciting LEGO themed project. See newsletter for more details!

  • Class 1 special visitors

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

Tuesday was a particularly exciting day for Class 1s, not just because it snowed, but because Mr Bond and his colleague Mr Alexander, visited with their fire engine! They showed the children some of the equipment they use, such as the thermal imaging camera. They got to wear the helmet and even had a go each at aiming the hose (with a bit of help) outside. I hope they had lots to talk to you about when they got home. Our thanks to Mr Bond for organising this and giving up his time for such an exciting opportunity for the class.

  • Celebrating World Book Day

    Fri 03 Mar 2023

It was lovely to see the amazing costumes children arrived in today, a highlight for those children who like dressing up. For many children it was an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about their favourite book – I’ve had lots of conversations today where children have explained why they dressed as they did! It’s great that so many of them have such strong feelings about what they enjoy reading! Thanks to everyone who helped create the costumes
