I wonder if the children have been mentioning finding ladybirds to you? A few weeks ago, lots of children were finding bugs and I explained they were ladybird larvae – this prompted many of them to search for them. Some of them have been rather ‘heavy handed’ in their handling so I talked to them about caring for ‘precious life’ this week – as well as showing them photos of different types of ladybirds. This sparked some wider interest and I couldn’t be more pleased to influence and pass this love of the natural world on! I have always loved minibeast and bugs – as a child I traumatised my mum with the spiders, slow worms and insects I took to my bedroom!
