Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Morning everyone,

What a beautiful day, and lots of staff have cycled in today, including me.  Mrs Miller was on her bike when she saw Zain's mummy and Zain's sister cycling and running today and she gave them a big wave and a cheery smile.  I also passed Hugo's dad running this morning and said hello and then Mrs Sothcott passed me in her car at the bottom of Upham Street and gave a wave too.  Today, the whole school is going to do Joe Wicks PE out on the field as we normally do, but as Joe is only doing his PE lessons on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays now, some of the children from Class 3 and Class 4 are choosing the 10 exercises for us to do - I hope we don't spend 20 minutes doing only silly billies and duck walks!  Anyway, enjoy the sunshine, I hope your monster comes out good and I hope you find lots of beetles!

Letters and Soundsj

Practise your sounds by singing some of the jolly Phonics songs.

Practise reading your phase 4 high frequency and tricky words.  You can use the booklet below to undertake one page of activities or read the words on the powerpoint.
Yesterday, we were focusing on the th digraph and we practised writing some of those words with the hard th sound.  Watch Geraldine the Giraffe to see how she gets on with th.
Choose one of the phonics with a teacher session to try from below.
Yesterday, you might have listened to the story "The Colour Monster" which was the final Oak Academy lesson.  If you didn't the link is below.  After the story, there was an activity to make your own colour monster from the inside of a toilet roll, or you could just make a tube from card.  We ran out of time at school to make our monsters so we are going to do that now.  If you didn't get a chance, listen to the story (it's really good) and then make your monster.  We are going to use the monster for the rest of the week to write about.

Number Time

Watch the Oak Academy Tuesday Maths video.  Today it is about doubling.

Then have a go at the Zog Day 2 maths activities.  Today it is all about adding groups of stars together.

Minibeast Activities

Today, let's see what we can find out about beetles.  Watch the short Minibeast Adventures with Jess clip using the link below (it starts at 3 mins and 28 seconds) and there is also another bbc clip to watch about beetles from all over the world.  Then head outside and see if you can find any.  There is also a story about a little boy looking for a beetle which you can listen to as well.  Good luck with your beetle hunt.
