Now it's your turn! To start your story map, draw a large s shape on a plain piece of paper. Then add pictures and labels to retell the story in the correct order. I only want you to go up to the middle of the story today as we are going to carry on tomorrow. Stop when you get to the part where Jack is hiding in the giant's castle.

Art
He used warm colours didn’t he so maybe he was happy.
The painting is called Castle and Sun and it is by an artist called Paul Klee. He is famous for using a type of art called abstract art. This means it is art that uses the effect of colour, lines, tones and textures to create a picture. Sometimes it is hard to tell what the picture is. Does it look like a real castle to you? Compare it with the castles in the document below.
Let’s now think about how he created his painting. He has used shapes to build up his picture.
I wonder why he used these colours.
You are going to have a go at making your own version of Paul Klee’s painting. I have provided a sheet of shapes which you will need to print out. If you don’t have a printer you could ask a grown up very politely if they will draw some shapes for you to use to draw round. You will need squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, semi circles and maybe an arch. In the video the lady uses oil pastels and paint. If you don’t have these at home use colouring pencils instead or whatever you fancy. I can’t wait to see your finished works of art!
Now watch the video below to see how to do it!
