The den building area is surrounded by a wooden fence as children are not allowed to use this area independently, only with an adult who takes them in (and of course supervises). The area is densely crowded with tree trunks and is the ideal place to make dens using short branches. There is also a willow tunnel, a log circle and a mud kitchen. Class 1 often pop down into this area so that children can build, explore and play. There is lots of wildlife in this space too and the log piles attract lots of beetles, newts and toads.
