Thursday 4th February 2021

Good morning everyone, I hope that your week is going well.  We had a lovely day at school yesterday and particularly enjoyed painting the owl faces.  If you didn't have a chance to try yesterday, maybe try and have a go today because they really do come out quite effective and all the children here were so pleased with how their owl face came out.  There's plenty to find out about owls today.  I have put a variety of owl information videos on towards the end of the page - why not watch one here and there throughout the day and see what you can find out.  I hope the I Can books are going well.  If you've managed to keep up all week then you'll be on your final page today.  Don't worry if you've only managed a page so far - go at your own pace.  Remember to send a photo of a page or two of your books over to me this week so that I can see how you have got on.   And have a look at the gallery as we have put a lot of new photos on this week and see what other people have been doing too.  Have a lovely day and dodge the showers!

Letters and Sounds

Practise your sounds using Flashcard Time Challenge of PhonicsPlay.  Choose the sounds you need to practise.

Watch Geraldine the Giraffe practise the sound "ar".
Below is an introduction to our new phoneme oo with the Jolly Phonics song to go with it.
Click on the link below to learn the digraph oo with Mrs Mason.  If you would rather make words using flash cards rather than writing, you will need b k f t w d l h c oo .

Learning the digraph oo (short sound) with Mrs Mason

The powerpoint that I used in the video is below if you would like to work through at your own pace.
Now write the final page of your I can book.  I wonder what the last thing will be?  I would love to see how your books have turned out.

Number Time

Let's sing 10 Fat Sausages with Mrs Miller.

Counting song with Mrs Miller- 10 fat sausages

Today see if you can work out how many different animals and items there are under the sea by using your 10 frame to combine the 2 numbers.  Then after see if you can combine the two amounts on a domino to find the total.  If you want to challenge yourself, see if you can write the number sentence for each domino, such as 2 + 3= 5.  The domino sheet for printing off is to the side of the video.  Try the second sheet challenge for extra fun after.  We are watching Week 2, session 4 today.
If you want to challenge yourself further, try the problem below with the dot plates.

Story Telling - 3 Billy Goats Gruff

Today we are going to sing the Billy Goats Gruff song again and then mime out the story.

Owls

Below are a few short clips about owls.  See if you can find out the following things:

What do owls like to eat?

Why can owls turn their heads a very long way round?

Why can they catch their prey without their prey hearing them?

Now watch the three short clips below to understand what an owl pellet is.  The last clip actually shows an owlet (a baby owl) coughing up an owl pellet!

Fix it Duck

Here is another story from Miss Newton. I hope you enjoy it.
