Good morning Class 1,

I hope you had a lovely day in the beautiful sunshine yesterday.  Lots more forecast today so get out in the garden and splash around if you can.  We have been enjoying having the water tray and the waterwall out at school over the last few days and we also planted a few small flowers and spinach in tubs that I had started growing at home.  I wonder how any seeds that you planted earlier this year are coming along now.  I hope you all managed to make a mood monster for your story writing later this week.  It really captured the children's imaginations at school, didn't take long to do, but they all came out really well - take a look below.  Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

Letters and Sounds

Practise your sounds using speed trials on PhonicsPlay.

Now practise some tricky words using tricky word trucks.  Start on phase 2, and if you read them with no trouble, try phase 3 and if you read them with no trouble, try phase 4!
Today, let's remind ourselves of the phoneme ch.  Geraldine will show you a few words and then have a go at reading the ch words with the videos below.
Then have a go at writing some ch words. Use floating phonemes on ICT games to make the following words: chip, chop, chap, chin, chat, chug
For the rest of the week, we are going to write a few things about our mood monsters that we have made.  Today we just need to introduce the monster, so try writing the sentence "This is my monster (and its name).".  Sit with your adult while you do this, have your sound card out to help with sounds and letter formation, and your tricky word mat to help with the word my.  Then sound out each word in turn and write it down, leaving a space between each word.  I'd love to see your monster and your writing about it at the end of the week.

Now try a phonics lesson with a teacher using one of the links below.  If there is one you haven't tried yet, give it a go and see if you like it.

Number Time

Now have a go at the Wednesday Zog activities.  Today it is all about making up subtraction stories about dragons using a tens frame.

Minibeast Activities

Watch Minibeast Adventures with Jess to find out all about centipedes.

Here's a story about a centipede and his 100 shoes.
