Hi Class Four,
I hope you had a good day of learning yesterday. It was such a beautiful, sunny day but so cold and windy! I went out to walk Flash in the morning and thought we were going to get blown away! It wasn't a very exciting day, I spent lots of time painting primer on more of the doorways and skirting in the hallway - it's a pretty boring job! But I had my speaker on playing Robbie Williams (my favourite artist!) so I did lots of singing and dancing whilst I painted!! Flash and Fred were well-behaved all day which was good after Sunday's bad behaviour!
I forgot to say yesterday about what I'd like you to send me this week in your email. Please can you send me:
I hope you have a great day of learning today, love Miss Olver x
Maths
Year 5
Today you are going to be continuing with your work on decimals. Go to the White Rose Maths Home Learning Year 5 website and find Summer Term Week 2, Lesson 2 which is called ‘Subtracting Decimals with the same number of decimal places’. Watch the video and work through the worksheet. I have attached the answers so you can check your work. I think there is one mistake on the worksheet – on Q1 the place value grid should have four ‘ones’ counters to represent the 4 in 14.83, but for some reason they have drawn six counters. You might want to cross two of these out to help you. Questions 8 and 9 have a few steps, so I have included my workings for these questions in case you want to have a look.
If you have time, or want an extra challenge, have a go at the extension sheet which has 2 extra problems for you to try linked to subtracting decimals. I’ve also included answers and my workings so you can check your work.
Year 6
Today you are going to be continuing with your work on angles. Go to the White Rose Maths Home Learning Year 6 website and find Summer Term Week 1, Lesson 4 which is called ‘Angles in a Triangle – Missing Angles’. Watch the video and work through the worksheet. I have attached the answers so you can check your work. Questions 3-6 are quite tricky and have multiple steps, so I have worked through these questions and attached my workings in case you want to have a look at the steps to take.
If you have time, or want an extra challenge, have a go at the extension sheet which has 2 extra problems for you to try linked to angles. I’ve also included the answers and my workings so you can check your work.
English
Remember to write an entry in your diary/journal at some point today.
In today’s session you will be writing your Greek myth.
Before you start, look back through your plan. Make sure you are happy with each part of the myth. If you can, talk through your myth plan with someone else – a sibling or a parent. This will help you to get it really clear in your head and they will be able to tell you if anything doesn’t make sense.
Remember to refer to your plan as you write. Think about all the things we talk about at school which make a good story, here are some of them:
Don’t rush your writing today as you will have time to finish this and edit it tomorrow.
Below I have included a key word mat which has lots of words which are often found in myths and legends. You might want to take a look at this and see if you want to include any of these words when you are writing today.
Topic
Today you will be learning about the Ancient Greek alphabet. I have explained today's tasks in the document below.
Spellings and Reading
