The children have been finding out about different birds in preparation for undertaking The Great School Bird Watch. We made some bird feeders and hung them in our garden to encourage birds to visit.
There was a lot of excitement when a couple of pigeons were spotted through the doors on the grass followed by a sparrow and chaffinch.
The children enjoyed their birdwatch and saw crows, chaffinches, a bluetit, blackbirds and 3 small birds very high up which we couldn't identify.
The children have been learning about the emergency services and we were very lucky to have a nurse and a police officer visit us and show us some of the equipment they use in their roles and answer the children's questions.
Some children made a fire engine from boxes to drive to an emergency which then a little later changed back into a family car!
As part of our RE syllabus, we have been thinking about what makes a person special to others. We spoke about how our buddies were special to us in school and how they cared for us and looked after us when we needed them. The children wrote a message to their buddy saying why they were special and then made them a gift to show their gratitude.
