Thursday 14th January

Today Miss Newton has recorded a morning message video. You can watch this below.

Good morning class 2

Good morning Class 2!

I hope you all had a good Wednesday. I hope you enjoyed your second History lesson. What did you learn? I tried to become a technology whizz yesterday and it hurt my brain a bit but I think I learned some new things so I was also learning!

If you didn't do PE with Joe yesterday you might like to do it this morning or at some other point to break up your day. Please see the link below.

Have a good Thursday!

Love Mrs Pilgrim x

English

Yesterday, you wrote a list of adjectives to describe a picture of a castle. Today you are going to use these adjectives to write some sentences to describe the castle.

Look at my castle description below. I tried really hard to use lots of adjectives!

Today you can either print one of the templates below or you can just use some lined paper.  Choose your favourite castle picture, cut it out and stick it to the top of your page.

Year 1: Talk about the picture you have chosen using the question prompts. Now write a sentence or two to answer each of the questions about your castle.  There is a blank template below for you to write on. If you do not have a printer, you can write on any paper you have at home and you could draw your own castle picture.

Year 2: Talk about the picture you have chosen using the question prompts to guide you. I want you to use lots of adjectives in your writing. Use your adjectives from yesterday to write some sentences to describe your castle. You could print the blank template below or you can do your writing on a piece of paper.

Maths

Let's look again at the 2 times table and practise saying it out loud.

1 x 2 = 2

2 x 2 = 4

3 x 2 = 6

4 x 2 = 8

5 x 2 = 10

6 x 2 = 12

7 x 2 = 14

8 x 2 = 16

9 x 2 = 18

10 x 2 = 20

11 x 2 = 22

12 x 2 = 24

Look at the below document and see if you can use your 2 times tables skills to fill in the gaps!

Can you draw a picture to help you solve this worded problem:

There are 5 boxes of pencils and each have 2 pencils in. How many pencils are there?

Watch this video and see if you think I've done a good job. You might like to tell an adult what you think I have done right or wrong.

Once you have watched the video I would like you to do the following:

Year 1

Please choose one of the pictures you took yesterday of equal groups and write a sentence to go with it, like I have done below.

Then continue choosing the sentences like you were doing yesterday and making them, but this time can you draw a picture to go with each one like I have done.

Year 2

You will be continuing with your learning from yesterday, but today your sentences include the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. So choose a sentence, copy it down, make it using objects from your home such as groups of cuddly toys, then draw a picture to go with it. Try to do 4. Then if you're feeling confident have a go at some problems. Please see below for the new sentences and the problems. It will look a bit like this:

Phonics

Year 1:

Click on the Power Point below and practice reading the real and alien words:

Today we are learning that the letter 'a' can sometimes make a short sound, like in the word 'cat' or sometimes make a long 'ai' sound like in the word 'paper'. Click on the link below for your phonics lesson:

Year 2:

Click on the Power Point below and practice reading the real and alien words:

Today we are going to revise the sounds that the letter 'c' can make in different words.

The letter c makes a short, hard sound in the following words: cat, camel, catch

The same letter c makes a longer, softer 's' sound in the following words: cycle, ice, centre

Click on the document below. You could print out the words, cut them up and sort them into two piles - soft c and hard c.

If you do not have a printer, you could sort the words by colouring them in two different colours.

Music

This term we will be doing Jack and the Beanstalk the musical. Each week we will learn one or two songs, then when we are all able to be back together again we will perform it together in class. This week we will learn the first song.

The first song is called What shall We Do? There are two clips you can watch to learn this song.

Click on the link below to listen to the music and see the words on screen. ( You will need to scroll half way down the page to the "backing track" clip)

Click on the link below to watch Mrs Miller teach you the song and actions.

Story time with Mrs Pilgrim

Mrs Pilgrim will read you a story today all about a lonely kiwi called Pee Wee. Click on the link below to watch it.
