Wednesday 3rd February

Happy Wednesday - half way through the week! Here is a morning message from me:

Wednesday 3rd February Morning Message

PE

Today, you can choose your sport as long as you spend half an hour on it. You could go for a run, a walk, a bike ride, do PE with Joe, do your own Pilates workout... the choice is yours.

I'll be joining in with PE with Joe from home today - I've got my brain ready for his weekly quiz!

Maths

It's Wednesday today, which means Times Tables tests. Click on the link below to find the times tables test you need (if you're not sure, send me an email and I'll remind you which one you are on). We normally have about 5-6 minutes for this in class as the grids have lots of questions on! Once you've finished, cluck the answers link and then you will be able to mark it - let me know how you get on so I can update my tracker. Good luck!

You have all been working really hard on division over the last few weeks. Today, you are going to be doing a division test. We often do tests at the end of a unit of work to see how we are doing. Please don't worry about it - just try your best and hopefully you will see how much progress you have made on division this half term. There are a mix of short division and long division questions and there are some you will be able to solve just from using your times tables knowledge.

Find a quiet place to do the test where you can focus. Try to make sure there is nothing around which might distract you.

For each question, think about which method will be the best for solving and then work through carefully.

Once you're finished, check your work and then mark it. Look carefully - some questions are worth 1 mark, some are worth 2 marks. For the 2 mark ones, you can have 2 marks if the answer is correct. If your answer is wrong but you have laid out your work correctly, then you will get 1 mark.

Good luck everyone!

If you have time, or want some extra division practice, then the website below has some good division games on you might like to play.

11am RE Live on Google Classroom

Today, I thought we could do the first part of our RE lesson together live on Google Classroom. We will be reading 'The Parable of the Feast' and talking about what it means and why Jesus shared it with his followers. If you have a printer, then it would be great if you could print off a copy of the parable so you can follow it and make notes on it at home. If not, please don't worry - just make sure you have a pen and paper ready in case you want to note anything down.

RE

In our Live session earlier today, we read 'The Parable of the Feast' together and talked about what it means.

Now, I would like you to summarise your understanding of the parable. In one paragraph, try to explain in your own words what the parable teaches the reader and why Jesus read it to his followers.

For this RE session, you are going to be looking at another parable by yourself. This parable is called 'The Parable of the Tenants in the Vineyard'.

Start by working through the Powerpoint below (I've also saved it in PDF format in case you are having problems opening Powerpoints).

Then I would like you to think about what the parable means. What message was Jesus trying to give to his followers? What do you think he was trying to teach them? Try to summarise your ideas in a few sentences.

Art/DT

Mrs Soley has planned another fantastic art/DT project for you to work on today - I think this is my favourite one so far. You will be building your own Mayan temple!

First have a look at the Bitesize website below which gives you some more information about Mayan buildings with some things to read, a video to watch and some images to look at.

Then follow the instructions carefully to build your temple.

You could decorate it once you finish if you would like to.
