Good morning from Mrs Mason 22.01.21

How many things did you manage to fit in your matchbox yesterday? We did not have any matchboxes in school, so we used a little pot.  Here is our school champion. She managed to put 26 things onto her pot. Well done!
Take a look at how well this owl painting came out.  The photos clearly show the process - a big well done.  Click on each photo to see the stages more clearly.

PE 11.00 am - 11:30 am

Southampton Football club will be running another live sports lesson for us to join in with this week. You should have already received the link you need to join via Parentmail.  Did anyone manage to clean their teeth standing on one leg last week????  Have fun.

Number Time

Lets start with singing another song with Mrs Miller

Today, see if you can join in with the actions too.

The song is called When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears.

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears

Today you are going to be measuring out different ingredients to make your own playdough.  In the recipe in the lesson it  suggests you use cream of tartar and baby oil, as well as flour, salt and water.  You can make it with just flour, salt and water if you don't have those two ingredients, it will come out fine:  2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of water.  If you want to do some dough gym to strengthen those little fingers, follow the links after the lesson.  Alternatively, you could make Miss Newton's gingerbread men instead which are shown later down the page, or make the bread rolls from last Friday if you didn't have a chance last week - all require lots of measuring by little hands!

What is the weather like today?  Don't forget to fill in your weather chart.
1.30pm - Celebration Assembly live with Mr Woolley

Bat Learns to Dance Story Telling

Join in singing the nursery rhyme Nik Nak, and then tell the story with Adam and see if you can add those final rhyming words before he does.  It all finishes up singing the song again - happy times!

Owls

Here is an animated version of the story of the Owl Babies - enjoy!

Gingerbread Part 1

You need to leave your dough in the fridge for ten minutes or longer if you like. I have popped a timer on here for you so you know when 10 minutes has passed.

Perhaps you may like to draw a design for your gingerbread before you make it. Here is a template or you can draw your own.

Gingerbread part 2

This video explains the next step. WARNING - Very sticky dough! My dough was very sticky so I added some more flour and kneaded it in.

Here are my finished Gingerbread men. I managed to find a gingerbread man shape after I finished my video! I forgot I had bought a new set of cutters that were in a different draw.

My Children really enjoyed decorating them. I look forward to seeing yours.
