Tuesday 23rd June

Good morning Class Four and what a beautiful morning it is. I always feel better when I wake up and see the sun is shining.

I had a lovely evening last night, I had my dinner when I got home and then spent some time on the phone to my Mum and then my Gran. Then I went for a run with Mrs Pilgrim and Mrs Steele around Lakeside. Afterwards, we went back to Mrs Pilgrim's garden and sat and had cheesecake - I love cheesecake! It was delicious and such a good start to my week.

I hope you also had a nice evening and managed to get out and enjoy the lovely weather.

I hope you enjoy your learning today, especially writing your fact pages and your art session from Mrs Soley.

Don't forget that if you want to write a leaving note to go in Miss Renno's card, then please send it to me today on the Class 4 email as we will be putting the card together in school tomorrow.

Have a great day, love Miss Olver x

Maths

It’s Tuesday today, which means Times Tables test day! All of the times tables tests and grids are available on the Maths Help section on the Class Four website. Go on there and find the one you need to work through today. Give yourself 5 minutes to complete the test. All the answers are also in the Maths Help section so you can mark it yourself once you are finished.

Year 5

Today you are going to be continuing with your work on tables from yesterday. Again the video is on a new website, so make sure you click on the link below rather than going on the normal White Rose page. Today's lesson is called 'Two-Way Tables'. Watch the video and then work through the worksheet. I have attached the answers so you can check your work.

If you have time, or want an extra challenge, have a go at the extension activity below. In this activity, you are given a set of information and then you need to decide how to put this into a two-way table to display the information. There isn't an answer sheet today as there are a few different ways you could choose to present it.

Year 6

Today you are going to be continuing with your work on perimeter and area. Go to the White Rose Maths Home Learning Year 6 website and find Summer Term Week 9, Lesson 2 which is called ‘Area of Triangles’. Watch the video and then work through the worksheet.  I have attached the answers so you can check your work. I have also attached a document to show how I would work out questions 3, 7 and 8 in case you want to have a look at my workings.

If you have time, or want an extra challenge, have a go at the extension sheet below. It has two problems on similar to the pink problems we often do at the end of our Maths lessons in class. I have also attached the answers so you can check your work.

English

Today you will be writing your animal fact page. You are very familiar with this text type so hopefully you will feel confident about how to organise your work. Think about:

  • Where you will position your title and introductory paragraph so it's obvious to your reader that they need to start by reading this section.
  • How you can keep your sections of information separate and make sub-headings clear so that your reader knows which section to read to find specific information.
  • Where you will position any pictures or diagrams. Try to put these near the information which they link to.

Don't rush your writing today as you will have time to finish, edit and improve your writing tomorrow. As always, you can choose if you do your writing by hand in your book or on a computer.

Art

Mrs Soley has planned a lovely animal origami art session for you today. Have a look at the instructions and photos in the document below and then go onto the YouTube video. Enjoy smiley

Spellings and Reading

Make sure you practise your spellings at some point today ready for your test on Friday and do some independent reading of your choice.
