October 2023

We have been lucky to have 6 weeks of cricket lessons delivered by a cricket coach this term.  The children have embraced all the activities each week which have introduced them to the skills of striking, fielding and catching.

Our Harvest Festival took place at the beginning of the month and we have been considering what harvesting really means.  We have shared different fruit and vegetables that the children had harvested and brought in, and have had a go at painting them too.  We have made vegetable soup, cheese and chive scones and tomato pasta using all the different produce.  The children helped with the chopping of the vegetables, the skinning of the tomatoes and the mixing of the scones. Then everyone could try what they liked, with the scones and pasta proving very popular.

We were lucky to receive a visit from Gina Rees, the author of the children's book "My Special Place".  Gina read the story to us and brought character toys too which brought the story to life.  The children also undertook some play activities connected to the story provided by Gina.
