March 2023

We started the month off by looking for signs of Spring.  The weather took a different turn to what we had been used to with warmer, brighter days bringing signs of new life to the school grounds.  The children have enjoyed noticing the emerging daffodils and crocuses under the tree in our garden area and had a go at drawing spring flowers with coloured pencils.

We are the all enjoying watching our frogspawn change and grow.  It is amazing how much it has changed and grown in its first week at school.  We now have many tadpoles swimming around freely in the tank having emerged completely from their jelly homes. Thank the you to Katy for bringing it to school for us to enjoy and learn from.  One of he children made his own tank with tadpoles in too!

World Book Day provided a great excuse to dress up.  The children enjoyed telling each other about their costumes and we shared some of the children's favourite stories.

There was much excitement when two firefighters and their fire engine came to visit.  The children were able to try on different parts of the firefighters' uniform and learn about different equipment that they use.  They had a go at trying to lift a man size body which took at least 4 children to lift and then were so lucky to sit in the fire engine and use the hose to put out some pretend fires.  A very big thank you to Firefighters Nick and Steve for organising this.
