Sport and Keeping Active Home-Learning

Thursday 16th July

Hi everyone, I hope you’ve all had a good week!

This is my last week of videos and it’s a slightly different one this week....

As we’ve all missed out on a sports day this year I have uploaded a series of virtual sports day video activities for you to all have a go at tomorrow!

I will be doing the same activities with those children that are in school. I would love it if you could send some pictures of you completing the activities and your scores to your class teachers.

Finally, I hope you all have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all back in school in September!

Stay safe and have fun!

I hope you have fun with it and hopefully your tennis skills have improved since the last video.

Friday 26th June

Hi everyone, I hope you’ve all had a great week and have enjoyed the lovely weather!

I’ve spent a lot of time outside with my children, playing in the garden, in the paddling pool and on the trampoline!

I’ve also been for a 15km run which is my longest one of the year and played a round of golf! So I’ve been trying to keep active even in the heat!

I hope you enjoy this weeks video, my daughter Isla wanted to show you some of her gymnastics moves this week, so have fun giving them a go!

Stay safe, stay active and see you soon!

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely week and have enjoyed the weather!

I’ve taken advantage of the changes to the exercising rules this week and have been for a run with my brother and a round of golf with one of my best friends! Both of these were great fun and I really enjoyed seeing some more people in person, at a safe distance. I’ve added some pictures below!

This week’s video is online, it’s a fun ball skills challenge this week for you to have a go at tomorrow or over the weekend.

I hope you all have a lovely half-term and I look forward to hopefully seeing some of you soon!

Social Distancing exercise!

Monday 18th May

Good morning everyone, I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend!

I went out for two nice long walks with my family. I’ve really enjoyed discovering new routes near our house that we’ve not been on before.

I also went for an 11.5km run on Sunday morning, which I found very tough, but I was really pleased with myself when I completed it!

I’ve set you all a new challenge, there’s only one this week because it’s a big challenge that might take you a while, I look forward to hearing how you get on when we are back at school!

Stay safe, stay active and have a great week!

Thursday 30th April

Hello everyone!

I hope you’re all having a good week and still getting someone exercise despite the rain. I’ve been completing the Joe Wicks workouts everyday still, I found the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ on Monday really hard though!

I hope you’ve all had fun with the challenges this week, we’re planning a bowling evening on Saturday at our house with the tin cans!

I have another new video on my video page, this week the sport is athletics, so check the videos page out and give it a go!

Tuesday 14th April

Hi everyone, I hope you've all had a nice Easter weekend and not eaten too much chocolate!

I've had a good few days, I went for a 5km run yesterday and have still been completing the Joe Wicks workout everyday. I found the workout yesterday really hard though, with all the extra challenges!

I've spent a lot of time in the garden this weekend, playing with my children and coming up with some new games to play. I have used one of these for your challenge this week.... check out the weekly challenge page to find out more!

I hope you enjoy the end of the Easter break, I will be back with some more 'sports skills' videos next week!

Stay safe, stay active and have fun!

Thursday 9th April

Hi everyone, I hope you are well and enjoying the Easter holidays.

The last few days have been a bit eventful in my house. On Sunday evening my daughter Isla landed funny on her arm on the trampoline, whilst she was practising a backflip for gymnastics! After a trip to the hospital we found out that she had broken her elbow! She was in a lot of pain, but was extremely brave and had a temporary cast put on. On Tuesday we had to go back to the fracture clinic for her to get a full cast put on, which you can see in the picture below.

I've set you all another weekly challenge, (sorry it is a bit late this week!) I've put a video of me completing it on the weekly challenge page, if you are looking for something to do during the Easter holidays give it a go!

Take care, stay safe (especially if you are on a trampoline!) and have fun!

Sports Dave Skills Lesson 2

Isla and her bright red cast!

Thursday 2nd April

Hi everyone!

I hope you've had a good week so far and have been staying active at home. I had a few technical issues yesterday so Miss Olver came to the rescue and posted my second sports skills video that you can see below!

This one is a 'tennis skills' video, with some activities you can do with just a ball, some with a ball and a wall and some with a tennis racket. I hope you enjoy giving them a go.

I've been very active today, I completed the Joe Wicks workout this morning, (which I've done every day!) played tennis and football in the garden with my daughters (they beat me at both!) and went for a little jog as well.

Before I go... take a look at my videos page for another short video that I posted yesterday. This has an extra challenge that I've set you, to collect some tins! All will be revealed in a couple of weeks, once everyone has had time to collect enough!

I will continue to post some videos over Easter, so until I see you next... stay safe, have fun and stay active!

Sunday 29th March

Hello everyone!

I hope you've all had a fun weekend. I've been out for a 4 mile run today, it was very windy as you can see from my hair in the picture below! I've also played lots of board games with my children and yesterday they helped me with some gardening. I hope you've all been good helpers at home!

Well done if you completed my football skills exercises, I'm looking forward to seeing some of the skills in action when we are back at school. Also, good work if you had a go at the sit-up challenge, I have set you a second weekly challenge to have a go at next week, so check out the challenges page.

I will add another sporting skills video in the next few days, so until then stay active and have fun!

Wednesday 25th March

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed your week so far and have been staying safe and staying active. I’ve completed the Joe Wicks workout every morning so far, there’s a picture below of my family read to exercise! We’ve also spent a lot of time in the garden and have been out for a couple of walks and jogs.

I hope you’ve all started having a go at the sit up challenge... I wonder if anyone has beaten my score yet?!

You should be able to see my first ‘sports skills’ video in the Videos section below. This week it’s football, have a go at all of the activities and hopefully you have some fun with it, try to get your brothers, sisters or parents to take part too!

See you all soon.

Joe Wicks time!

Hello everyone!

PE Dave here to welcome you to your very own page dedicated to sporting ideas and ways of keeping active while you are not at school over the coming weeks.

I hope you've all enjoyed the lovely weather this weekend and have managed to get out and be active. I've been for a walk to the shore with my three children, played tennis and been on the trampoline in the garden!

I will be keeping you updated with website links, weekly challenges and some videos of me completing sports skills and activities for you to practice.

One suggestion that I will be taking part in with my 6 year old twin daughters is 'PE with Joe'. Joe Wicks is running a daily 30 minute workout aimed at school children at 9am on his YouTube channel. You just need to search for 'PE with Joe' to join in the fun!

Take care, stay safe and stay active.
