On returning from half-term, we shared the story of Pumpkin Soup. We had a good look at what a pumpkin looked and felt like, and on cutting it open discovered seeds and lots of damp, sticky fibres with a strong pumpkin smell. Just like the characters in the story, we worked as a team to make the soup with everyone taking a turn to cut up the pumpkin. Everyone then tasted the soup on completion with many deciding that they quite liked it. We have also started to make our own pumpkin pictures by mixing yellow and orange to make the orange colour.
The children practised catching, bowling and catching skills with a cricket coach this week. They will enjoy weekly sessions with the coach throughout this term.
The children had a yoga taster session today based around jungle animals.
We have been finding out about the festival of Diwali. The children used powder paint and stencils to make rangoli patterns to put by our outside entrance into the classroom to welcome people in. We also made our own diyas out of clay and painted them bright colours too.
We have also been finding out how to make different shades of orange by mixing red and yellow.
