Some horrible weather this week with lots of wet playtimes. Although the photo above shows a beautiful view one day this week – sometimes I take the view for granted from the field but it reminded me just how amazing it is!
It’s funny how a wet start to the day seems to generate more traffic! Thursday was one of those days and many families got stuck behind a lorry on arrival. A few parents mentioned about when a child is determined as ‘late’ so I thought it was worth reminding everyone.:
School starts at 8.55am, the whistle goes and everyone leaves the playground. Arriving after this is late but I tend to stay on the gate until 9am. This is in the spirit of trying to support and help families. Sometimes I stay longer, especially if I’ve got into a chat with a parent. On days when I can’t be there whoever is covering will tend to come straight in at 8.55am, needing to be in class with children. When I am still outside and the gate is open, children can go straight in but as soon as I lock it and go in, we then ask parents to complete a ‘late slip’ and entry is via the office. This continues until 9.25am at which time a late after this point constitutes an absence for the whole morning session (DfE law).
