Vocal performance at Thornden Hall Theatre

Yesterday, children from Badgers class took part in a vocal festival with the other cluster schools, culminating in a concert to parents at Thornden Hall Theatre. The children sang amazing songs, all based around a theme of ‘strength and courage’. This opportunity was initially offered to all Year 5s; giving the same opportunities to all being a key principle for our curriculum design, with spaces being made up by some Year 6s, especially those who missed out last year with illness. The experience of singing in a large choir is something we can’t replicate here so a really important piece of musical learning – and they worked with musician and vocal coach Becky Griffin and a live backing band. The children have been learning the songs throughout the term with Mrs Miller and Mrs Ford who both accompanied the children and gave up their evenings to support them. This is a great example of how as staff we are committed to offering both sporting and arts experiences for all our children.
