About the role

If you relish the thought of working with enthusiastic children as part of a close team of people who enjoy their work then we would love to hear from you. We are looking to recruit a part-time teacher for our mixed Year 1/ Year 2 class to cover Mondays. You will be job sharing with an experienced teacher in a setting that will offer you:

  • A supportive and experienced set of colleagues
  • A friendly, supportive environment based on genuine teamwork
  • Opportunities to develop and extend your teaching
  • Opportunities to work in a small school with motivated children, supportive parents and well established headteacher,
  • Full time learning support assistant
  • An environment where staff welfare and confidence is prioritised

This position would be ideal for an energetic, enthusiastic candidate. The role would suit an experienced teacher looking for new experiences, who perhaps is looking for better job satisfaction, or someone newer to the profession seeking a supportive, stable environment in which to develop.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A strong, proven practitioner with experience of teaching either Year 1 or Year 2
  • A creative, enthusiastic, motivated individual,
  • A strong understanding or early reading, including teaching of phonics
  • A good communicator towards staff and colleagues and able to contribute to our team,
  • Able to build and develop positive relationships with children and parents.

We are a small, rural Church of England school set in idyllic Hampshire countryside. Our parents are overwhelmingly supportive of the work we do and we are proud of our excellent behaviour, high standards and excellent local reputation. You could be the right candidate to join our happy, highly motivated team.

In our successful ‘Good’ OFSTED, they praised that ‘Staff’s workload is important to them and leaders. Staff work closely together and support each other well’ – Does this sound like somewhere you might be happy working?

Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged.  Application packs are available from the school website www.upham.hants.sch.uk or via the school office.  Please call (01489) 860355 or email adminoffice@upham.hants.sch.uk

The closing date for applications is midnight on Wednesday 10th December 2025.  We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for this role.
