Next week, children in Year 5 will be completing the ‘Bikeability’
cycle training course. This is delivered by a Hampshire County
Council Qualified Trainer who will start by teaching the children
on the playground on Monday, to assess their confidence and
control on a bike. Later in the week, they will then go out onto
Upham Street to practise pulling away, safe manoeuvres and
making safe decisions regarding other road users. Please look
out for them if you are driving along Upham Street during the
school day next week and drive carefully in anticipation of a
group of children on bicycles.
The weather forecast promised so much but didn’t quite deliver… not here anyway! But there was a little snow around this morning so the first order of business today was everyone outside to explore and play! The wet snow proved to be particularly good snowman-building material though so some impressive creations were made! We don’t get much snow here so these strong sensory experiences are too valuable to waste – it’s also where our children’s excellent collaboration skills are used to good effect!
