I’m sure you read my letter earlier in the week about the planned first visit of our school dog, Maggie. I spoke to the children about this today – as you can imagine there was much excitement and I had to explain that just as when they started Year R, they didn’t immediately go everywhere, Maggie has to get used to everything first. Throughout, I talked about how many people are worried by dogs, that I was a child who was scared of dogs, and that there is nothing to worry about. Maggie will be based in my office initially and will not be free running around school at all. A few children had a few chats with me as the day progressed and I was able to reassure them. Monday will be her first day at school!
