We started the week with our Harvest assembly, outside on the playground. It was lovely to be all together for the first time in a long while and to sing some harvest songs – including our favourite ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’! We talked about how Harvest is a time to appreciate the things we have in our lives, not least food, and that all the seeds, berries and fruits at this time of year are a good reminder. I illustrated this by throwing as many sycamore ‘helicopters’ into the air as I could – which many young children then copied at playtime – I wonder if they mentioned this to you? We went on to discuss the work of Winchester Churches Nightshelter and the work they do. My thanks to families who sent a donation in. Children made an ‘offering’ of these gifts into the chest, shown in the picture above.
