It was World Mental Health Day on Monday and in worship I talked to the children about mental health, alongside physical health and healthy eating and sleeping as all being required for health. We talked about how powerful the brain is; that if we think negatively about ourselves that negatively affects how we feel. To counteract this, rehearsing positive thoughts such as ‘I can … I am … or I have…’ helps restore positive self image. This is also a key component from our vision – to love ourselves. Many of the children enjoyed making ‘paper chatterboxes’ at playtime, designed to help them think about these positive thoughts.
