The warm weather has brought more sustained use of our school field so I have reintroduced football into the range of play children can choose. I’ve done this a little differently this year as some of our younger school councillors had shared that some younger children don’t always feel confident on the field when older children are playing big football games. I have therefore talked to the children about setting up games with agreed boundaries so play doesn’t drift off their ‘pitch’ areas. We’ve also set up multiple pitches across the field but leaving large areas free for other games. The children have managed this really well with lots of football games of mixed ages taking place whilst other areas are used for running, jumping and just sitting around! An important change initiated by our school council for the benefit of all.
