We had a lovely Harvest Festival in the church this morning and it was lovely to see so many of you. As always, Class 4 children lead the main ‘teaching’ aspect and described how the symbolism of food is used throughout Christianity, none more so than in The Lord’s prayer where the request ‘Give us this day our daily bread’ could also be interpreted as ‘give us everything we need today’. Class 4 taught everyone how to sign this in British sign language which also underlines the meanings of each word. Here is Class 2’s prayer for Harvest which they had written together to share:
Dear God,
Thank you for giving us healthy food from all around the world.
We have been thinking about harvest time and that the farmers have to do a lot of work.
Help us to remember everyone who brings in the harvest.
