Trip to Portsmouth Cathedral for the Year 6 children

On Tuesday, our Year 6 children travelled to Portsmouth Cathedral for a leavers service from the Diocese. Year 6 children from Church of England schools across the Portsmouth Diocese were present. Part of the service involved sharing of clay figures they had previously made to form a collective sculpture in the Cathedral (below) – this is inspired by a Sir Anthony Gormley sculpture, symbolising everyone being part of a community. They sang a range of songs and our school was invited to read the prayers this year. Eliza, Elsie and Finley volunteered and confidently spoke to the whole Cathedral audience. Bishop Ian also said a few words and offered his blessings for their futures.
